The VDE Big Band is performing a selection of the repertoire that was performed by Gerry Mulligan and his Concert Jazz Band. The pieces for this band were arranged by musicians such as: Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Holman, Johnny Mandel and Gary McFarland. Gerry Mulligan was one of the greatest baritone sax players ever. He was groundbreaking with working on the Miles Davis record "Birth of the Cool", his quartet with Chet Baker, but also his big band.

The VDE Big Band will pay homage to Mulligan with Tim McKay as the featured baritone sax soloist.

Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim is a first-generation New Mexico native singer and songwriter, currently based in sunny Los Angeles, California. An alumna of Santa Fe University of Art and Design with a focus on jazz vocals, she has won multiple prestigious awards, including first place in the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Jazz Competition (2021) and the BISTRO Outstanding Achievement Award for Jazz Vocalists (2023).

Claire Martin has established herself as a tour de force on the UK jazz scene gaining many awards, including winning the British Jazz Awards as best vocalist eight times during her career, which spans almost four decades.

Jeremy Siskind is the rare musician whose imaginative albums land on “best of” lists while his ground-breaking instructional books populate “best-seller” lists. A top finisher in national and international jazz piano competitions, Siskind is a two-time laureate of the American Pianists Association and the winner of the Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition.

Lia Booth is quickly establishing herself as one of Southern California’s most talked about young jazz singers. Wild Child is a Los Angeles based band with 20 solid years of performance in the competitive L.A. Music Scene. Faithfully re-creating a live Doors Concert on stage, this is not a typical Doors tribute band! Wild Child’s music is painstakingly reproduced and combined with the voice, look and essence of Jim Morrison live on stage. They mirror the depth, energy and emotion of The Doors concerts as they were live back in the late 1960s. Wild Child also utilizes the same musical instruments live as The Doors did over 35 years ago.

With meticulous attention to detail, Kenny Metcalf embodies the young Elton John, from his iconic costumes, like the famous Los Angeles Dodgers uniform designed by Bob Mackie, to his distinctive glasses crafted by Ray Winston. Dale Watson is a honky tonk hero and country music maverick, a true outlaw carrying on where Waylon Jennings left off. Born and raised in Orange County, California, Alexis Silva is a sixteen-year-old, second-degree black belt, who always had a vision for community service and a passion for music. In 2023, she faced-off against an adrenal gland tumor that changed the course of her life, leading her to write, sing, and record the "The Fight's Not Over Yet". She did this just days before her grueling, eight-hour surgery to remove the tumor her physicians believed to be cancerous. Only 30 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with these tumors per year.
