A Night of Jazz Brilliance in Newport Beach
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Newport Beach’s premier live music venue Campus Jax presents an extraordinary evening of jazz featuring the acclaimed vocalist Tony Gil and world-renowned guitarist Paul Bollenback, backed by the fabulous Tony Guerrero Quintet.
From Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, Tony Gil has been delighting audiences with his rich baritone voice, elegant phrasing, and natural command of the stage. A celebrated artist who has earned multiple honors — including Artist of the Year and Jazz Vocalist of the Year — Gil’s career has taken him to some of the most prestigious stages in the country. Among his many highlights, he was a featured performer at President Bill Clinton’s Inaugural Celebration, sharing the bill with none other than Aretha Franklin.
A seasoned jazz vocalist with a modern sensibility, Gil’s performances blend the intimacy of classic jazz with the energy and storytelling of a contemporary artist. His interpretations of timeless standards bring new life to the Great American Songbook while adding a signature flair all his own.
Joining Gil is Paul Bollenback, one of jazz’s most distinctive guitar voices. Celebrated for his soulful tone and deep harmonic insight, Bollenback’s artistry has graced stages around the world alongside legends like Joey DeFrancesco and Jack McDuff. His fluid interplay and refined touch make him the perfect partner for Gil’s vocal artistry.
Anchoring the evening will be the Tony Guerrero Quintet, a powerhouse ensemble led by the acclaimed trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Tony Guerrero. Known for their impeccable musicianship and stylish arrangements, the Quintet adds a vibrant, swinging foundation to the night — ensuring an unforgettable performance from start to finish.
Expect a night of world-class musicianship, soulful storytelling, and the unmistakable chemistry that happens when top-tier artists share the stage.
“When Tony Gil’s voice meets Paul Bollenback’s guitar — and the Tony Guerrero Quintet behind them — it’s pure magic,” says Campus Jax founder Jack Jasper. “This will be one of those nights people talk about long after the final note fades.”
