A Benefit for Pereira Earthquake Relief
For frequent Campus JAX singer-songwriter Majo Insuasti, this concert is deeply personal.
Majo grew up in Pereira, Colombia—the city that shaped her, the culture that lives inside her music, and the place she called home before she came to Orange County to attend Concordia University. After the devastating earthquake struck Pereira and surrounding communities just a few weeks ago, Majo found herself thousands of miles away watching people and places she loves suffer.
Her first instinct was simple:
“Maybe there is something I can do with my music.”
On Tuesday, September 8, Campus JAX will bring that idea to life with a very special full-band evening: Majo & Friends in Concert — For Pereira. For Colombia.
This will be far more than a traditional benefit show.
Majo will take the audience on a musical journey through her own original songs and the music of Colombia, surrounded by an exceptional band and friends who are coming together to help her turn music into meaningful action.
Expect an evening that moves from the intimacy of Majo’s songwriting to the irresistible rhythms, melodies and spirit of the country she loves, with music associated with artists including Juanes, Shakira, Monsieur Periné, Morat, Joe Arroyo, Rodolfo Aicardi, Lucho Bermúdez, Carlos Vives, Binomio de Oro, Karol G and more.
Among the evening’s highlights will be a celebration of iconic Colombian music including “Colombia Tierra Querida,” “Tierra del Olvido,” “El Caminante” and “Cariñito,” alongside Majo originals such as “Traveler,” “Origen,” “Cómo Escampar,” “Praying for You,” “Lamento,” “Canción de un Adiós,” “Mentira” and others.
The evening will acknowledge the tragedy that brought us together—but its spirit will ultimately be one of hope, resilience, community and celebration.
Because that is also part of the story of Colombia.
Our Goal: $10,000+ for Pereira
Campus JAX, JAX SongStage, Majo and our participating musicians are working together to structure the event so ticket proceeds, sponsorships, matching gifts and direct donations can create the greatest possible impact.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 for earthquake relief benefiting people affected in Pereira.
And for those unable to attend in person, the evening will also reach beyond the room through our online digital communities, creating an opportunity for friends, family and supporters near and far to participate in the effort.
